# IP WHOIS Examples

Worked examples for IP WHOIS: the current registration record of a well-known public IP address, and the answer to an IPv6 address. `ipwhois.asn` and its `asn_*` fields describe the autonomous system that announces the address; `ipwhois.asn_registry` names the regional internet registry (RIR) the record comes from.

Every example is a real response from September 24, 2026. `ipwhois.network` is the registered network that contains the address; `ipwhois.entities` lists the handles of the organizations and contacts attached to it and `ipwhois.objects` gives the details of each, keyed by handle. Contacts of natural persons (names, addresses, phone numbers, e-mail addresses) are redacted, and e-mail addresses other than role mailboxes are shown as `user@<domain>`.
